The concept of “Danish Design” became internationally recognized in the 1940’s and 1950’s. It is now part of the Danish national identity, reflecting the virtues of Danish culture and the Danish mentality. Honesty, openness, and usefulness are key words in the Danish approach to the design of everyday objects.
Danish Design has brought something new to the design world, namely an organic functionalism which free itself of militant geometrical shapes while representing a new, more demanding simplicity. It is a design concept based on a genuine interest in the interaction between the designer and the user, paying attention to details, respect for materials as well as a high regard to quality craftsmanship.
The Danish Design heritage does not only include furniture, lighting, and architecture but also industrial design in more general terms including everyday items and objects within such aspects as kitchen-, table-, dining & serving ware. In continuation of this, Danish contemporary design continue to challenge and reinvent its heritage with new technology, ideas, materials and designs that are both highly functional and emotionally attractive.

Since the 50s, Danish design has been known worldwide for elegance and timeless style. Many shapes and forms created up until today draw inspiration from creations by the Danish designer Arne Jacobsen who among many is famous for the Ant chair, the Egg and Stelton's Cylinda line which are all strong symbols of Danish design today. 

But design developes over time, and besides the classic and well-known Danish designers we are thus proud to present the new generation of Danish designers which have redefined and further developed the classic Danish design into a more innovative and modern concept.

Among others Scandinavia Trend represent some of the icons of contemporary Danish design history such as Erik Magnussen and Erik Bagger, but also modern Danish design represented by names such as Louise Campbell, Karl Rüdiger and Lin Utzon, the daughter of the world famous Joergen Utzon – the architect behind the Opera House in Sydney.

Many of the Danish designers have received several awards from all over the world and some of the designs have even been included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The sub-floor must be prepared to ensure that it is smooth, flat and dry. Any bump, ridge or indentation in the sub-floor may eventually show on the surface of the vinyl tile. If installation is done over concrete, it should be tested for moisture emission rates and pH level to ensure that it has cured prior to the tile's installation. For a complete flat and even sub-floor, we recommend using 1/4 or 1/2 in. marine plywood.
Regular care of vinyl floors is so simple. Daily sweeping or mopping will help maintain the original shine and color of a vinyl floor for years. Quick clean up of spots and spills with a mild detergent and water will prevent discoloration of the flooring and a weekly or bi-weekly cleaning with a commercial floor cleaner (like our APO Floorcare system) will remove surface scratches and keep the floor looking good as new.
APO vinyl tiles will not react when in contact with spills such as water because vinyl is impervious to water. We recommend using a water-resistant adhesive like our Powerbond to prevent delamination for short-term seepage of water.
Our vinyl tiles can take on sudden spills from cooking oil, soy sauce, vinegar and other light chemicals. Caution though must be made for our vinyl not in contact with harsh chemicals such muriatic acid.
The thicker the vinyl tile the better is its performance to withstand heavy loads. Using the appropriate thickness of vinyl, dimensional stability against heavy loads is ensured.
Engineered wood can be installed 3 ways: either floating, glue-down or nail down. Either way the sub-floor must be ideally smooth and leveled although on a floating installation the sub-floor may be less stringent.

Choosing Colors on Tropical Climate

Some of these shades are not for the faint-hearted as they command attention and may be an acquired taste. So, to guide you in your color search, here are a few tips from a member of the PSID graduating class of 2010, Medardo Andrew Arbuis Jr.
• “Climate is an important factor to consider when planning your home design especially for a tropical climate such as ours, while structural changes provide the best solution for keeping cool in a tropical climate, choosing the right colors can also cool down the house,” he says.
• Light versus dark. Different colors reflect or absorb different amounts of light. A dark surface absorbs almost al the light that strikes, while a light surface absorbs almost none.
• Use cool colors as it tend to calm and comfort. Choose the cool blues, greens, and violets over the warm reds and yellows.
• Go with pastels as they provide an open feeling especially helpful in summers. Use pastel tints of the hues you want to decorate with by blending them with white or gray.
• Provide illusion of space; dark and light colors have opposite effects on a room’s feeling of spaciousness. In large rooms with high ceilings, use dark colors to make it more proportionate while in small rooms, use light colors to make it more expansive and airy.
• Know your neutrals since it can make rooms appear larger, but even neutral have warm or cool undertones. Warm undertones are pinkish or yellow-toned while cool undertones are blue or violet.
• Be creative. Light colors are generally more cooling than dark ones but using all light colors can be boring.

 Tomato is a bold color that commands attention! This color gives the impression of seriousness and dignity, as well as representing heat, fire and rage.  It is also associated with love, passion, warmth and comfort. 

 Tomato is a vivid color that signifies danger, which is why it is used on stop signs.  It is also well-known to enhance one's body metabolism.

 Cornflower blue is a light shade of azure with relatively little green  compared to blue. It exhibits a gray tinge, giving it a hint of neutral tone.  In painting application, it is both rich and retained.

 Cornflower blue is considered to promote depth, stability and professionalism.  In symbolisms, it may represent trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.

 Midnight is a dark shade of blue, close to black, that was named for its darkness.  It is the color of a vat full of indigo dye; therefore, midnight blue may also be considered a dark shade of indigo. 

Midnight blue emphasizes the cooling and relaxing qualities of blue, reminding us of the peace and calmness of night.
